The printing of the work of art could only be done on polyester fiber, the challenge was to find the best fabric and the best local printing company. The final choice went towards comfortable, durable and eco-friendly fibers.

Chacal is a Quebec City-based fashion designer who spent 15 years working in the Quartier Petit Champlain with her mentor, designer Marie-France Huez. When Huez retired, Chacal decided to strike out on her own, creating Chacal atelier/boutique and setting up shop in the same neighborhood where she was already well known.

After only two months of work, Quebec fell into lockdown because of the global pandemic. She then decided to use this lack of luck to create masks signed Chacal to answer the demand. It was a great succès!

Esther, who was already established on St-Jean street, had the idea to make masks with prints of her work. Both of them dreamed of a collaboration between designer and artist. Les astres devaient être alignés car, suite à leur rencontre, la chimie fût instantanée.

The Chacal/E.garneau collection was taking shape!

This joy was abruptly interrupted in the early hours of November 3, 2020.A fire broke out in the building housing the Chacal boutique, Marie-France Huez’s apartment.Unfortunately, rescue services were unable to save her from the flames.Chacal took some time to go through the stages of mourning.

Even if the wound was still raw, it was in May 2021 that the artist duo launched the 100% Québécois clothing collection!

The mediatic welcome was good and gave them back a lot of energy. The Chacal/ E.Garneau clothing collection is getting talked about at the television, at the radio and in the papers.

Since then, the team keeps growing and now the workshop is added to the Zen gallery, at 52 St-Louis street, Québec.
